Psychotherapy is a unique partnership that can help you experience yourself and the world in new ways. Good therapy can help you:
-- learn or strengthen skills for coping with life's challenges
-- identify and harness your own talents
-- develop better understanding of yourself and others
-- increase your capacity for joy
Clients say they find me warm, encouraging, and nonjudgmental. I listen closely and actively, but I don't fit the stereotype of the near-silent therapist. As one client put it, "This feels more like a conversation."
I have 23 years of experience helping people with a wide range of struggles, including:
-- mental health conditions (for example, depression, anxiety, OCD, eating disorders)
-- difficult life experiences (trauma, loss)
-- academic challenges (ADHD, procrastination)
-- life cycle transitions (college, young adulthood, midlife)
-- relationship conflicts
-- parenting concerns
I am experienced in providing brief counseling that targets a specific problem, as well as longer-term therapy that helps people understand and work though deep-seated conflicts and relationship patterns. Our first meeting is a consultation, in which we determine whether I can be of help and what kind of help will be effective.
In addition to treating clients in private practice, I worked in a college health setting for 13 years. I love helping young adults navigate the special challenges -- and opportunities! -- presented by this phase of life.
I am a network provider for Highmark Blue Shield. My out-of-pocket fee is $130 per session; I also offer a certain number of reduced-fee spots for clients with low incomes.
I invite you to call me for a brief phone consultation. We'll talk about your goals and see if working together could help you achieve them.
